Ok....so where is the Snow

I hail from the magical land of Ontario. Normally around this time of year we have a nice coating for snow, a little something to fool around with but this year....NOPE. It's clearly nada but all of us snowboarders and skiers would like it to be more prada so the hills can open and the urban jibbing can really pick up.

Once the season starts, look forward to some winter oriented videos. I've got something in the works and it's definitely a secret.

Hyper in California

What can I say, I've had California on the mind lately. I also changed the entire format of how I upload videos on youtube. Instead of just randomly throwing content up, I've devised a system at the very least for my sanity's sake. Now a Tricking/ Martial Arts video will be delivered on a monday. This week a put together a little reel of some tricking in California using repurposed Hyper Martial Arts Footage. Check it out and let me know what you think.

It's really cool to have the ability and means to work with footage from some of the world's top martial artists and trickers and not have to worry about copyright. If your thinking of getting into tricking or you like the clothes. You can check out Hyper Martial Arts online for plenty of tricking as well as martial arts tips along with the cool gear.

Idy Killing it

One year ago I made this video of Idahosa Yorke Skateboarding.
Can't say it was my best choice of background music, that being said it's pretty cool to look back on that and then watch the video I made of him this year. You can definitely see the increase in physical power and the progression of of tricks over the year. Here is the newest video. These may have been done under different editing handles, there have been in house changes before, Affliction Films became it's own entity.

Thursdays With Hutch

Very recently I decided to start video blogging. In my virgin attempts at online tom foolery, I have decided to name this new series of videos Thursdays With Hutch.  These videos for the large part have no real purpose, goal or destination they are just me and whatever I fancy to say or do at the time. I figure it'd be a nice way to let a lot of you see the Hutch behind the scenes. Here is the very first one from last thursday.

Montage of Tricks

As many of you know, my grass roots lie within the martial arts and tricking communities respectively. I will always try to stay true to those roots in some capacity. Though I have recently been focusing more on skateboarding and the ways of the artsy fartsy, I still take the time to edit a good tricking reel or tournament sampler.

My most recent tricking sampler has simply been named Tricking Montage, nothing more and nothing less. The original song was Crazy by Gnarls Barkley a song that played key in my own tricking adventures in 2005/2006 before I obviously became a fat arse....well I'm not exactly fat just not as petite and wirey as I was back then, more muscle and bulk these days.

P-Tek Cup Edit

As many of you who read this blog regularly know, The P-Tek cup was just a few weeks ago. The plan was to be on hand take pictures and do some filming. I ended up running into one problem headlong, family, Yes I was completely cock-blocked from the P-Tek cup by the family. Thankfully I'm never short on footage from any given event in the extreme sports community to make edits out of it. It's kind of nice that I now have some local tap-ins for footage and not just my international tap-ins.
Anyway here is the wee edit.

P-Tek Cup

Readers, you can look forward to pictures, possibly video from the this coming Saturday's P-Tek Cup. It's been a while since I've photographed or filmed a comp, this should be exciting. I'm not sure I'll photoshop every image I get but I will photoshop quite a few.  I have aspirations to one day be a published photographer in Skateboard Canada Magazine.

I've hit this spot in my life where I really want to start seeing things happen and push my creativity to it's limits on a broader scale.

Photoset from Toronto

While the video City Limits was being filmed I took some time to cop some photos. My hope is by the formal end of summer I'll have a complete album of skate photography. While in Toronto I normally just use my smaller Fuji Film camera. If you've a good eye, good knowledge of the shutter speed and a quick finger  it's easy to capture a good image. It's a light camera with a strong zoom and doesn't require the same amount of travel TLC as a more expensive SLR. I didn't photoshop any of the images.

A lil 2.0 in Courtice

SWAG
I know, I'm breaking my own rules again! Not really. Normally this is all about me and my creative journey but I can share, sometimes. Being a Clarington local the Courtice skatepark at one point played a huge part in my life. At least it did back when a skateboard seemingly was fused to my feet and prior to all those lovely injuries associated with hockey, cheerleading and whatever bad ass things I may have been involved with. I'm digressing here.

The point is Courtice 2.0 by Raaw Media has been dropped. Raaw Media isn't one mine it's all my buddy Idy's handiwork though I can claim some influence, the kid is my protege after all. We have entirely different styles of editing and completely different focuses but it's definitely fun to watch and see where he's going and growing with his editing. Check out the Courtice 2.0 edit, Below.

Welcome to The Affliction Blogs, I finally decided to chronicle this journey I'm on in the media world. I hope everyone sticks around.
I finally got around to putting up a wee little bit of a skateboard edit of some more of the local talent. This time around we took it out to the big city, What an experience! Filming in the city is pretty hard. You often get kicked out of spots, some skaters are rude to security and give us all a bad image.

I focused more on photography this time round while the three other filmers had filmed. There wasn't much footage to work. I did manage to piece together this small edit.
Please let me know what you think.

The black Supra Dixon shoes were provided by www.cheapsk8shoes.com. They have several models, styles and colours at a fraction of the coast. I'd recommend them to any skater who needs quality shoes for a better price and face it skaters, you go through shoes fast.
